“We are proud and honored to welcome Maj. Gen. Macias to the è community,” said Gregory Fowler, president of UMGC. “His extraordinary record of service and leadership is a testament to his commitment to values that we hold dear—including service, integrity, and the transformative power of education. We are thrilled to have him join our senior leadership team and look forward to benefiting from his experience and perspective and to working alongside him to advance our mission and to build on our long history of service to military and veteran populations worldwide.”

UMGC was established in1947 with a mission to provide higher education to adults in the workforce and military servicemembers and veterans outside a traditional campus. The university began sending faculty to teach servicemembers in post-World War II Europe in 1949 and expanded to Asia in 1956 and to the Middle East in 2006.

"I am absolutely honored to join President Fowler and the UMGC Senior Executive Team in executing our mission to inspire hope, empower dreams, and transform lives. Nothing can be more fulfilling than to continue to work with military service members, their families, and veterans globally,” said Macias.

Among his many roles and accomplishments, Macias has been recognized for outstanding performance within the U.S. Navy’s fighter jet community, flight instructor, mentor, manager and executive throughout his highly successful career.
